Fedor Emelianenko, The last Emperor, The badest man on the planet, The GOAT will retire after the fight against Pedro Rizzo on June 21, in St. Petersburg, Russia.
He expressed his desire during an interview with Sports.ru.
Next month he is to fight Pedro Rizzo at an M-1 show in St. Petersburg, Russia and while Rizzo was once one of the most dangerous heavyweights on the planet.
According to Sports.ru, Fedor has evinced a desire to teach fighters of his own when he retires, as well as youngsters – unsurprising given his background in judo and sambo, both of which have strong emphasis on youth programs.
He was also reported as saying that he is rooting for Josh Barnett in the final of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix, which takes place this Saturday. Barnett faces the 2004 and 2008 US Olympic wrestling team member Daniel Cormier, who has gone 9-0 since transitioning to mixed martial arts in 2009.
This is definitely very sad news for MMA fans around the world as many were hoping to see Fedor fight in the UFC soon.
I have personally been disgusted by the dirty tricks and attack by Dana White against Fedor. Attacks which has had no logic and been sheer lies at best.
I have also been disgusted by the silence other MMA fighters in the UFC has shown. Cowardly behavior is not the way of a true fighter and warrior.
No one ever said: “Mr Dana White I am fighting here in the UFC. Fedor beat the crap out of me. Why isnt Fedor fighting in the UFC. I want to see Fedor in the UFC.”
Nothing, they all stayed quiet like little mouses.
Therefore Fedor has apperently decided to retire and teach students instead. Is he retiring to soon? I definitely think so.
